About the ImagineU Approach
ImagineU courses, workshops, and upcoming Friends Forums are geared towards intelligent, curious adults coming from a variety of academic and professional backgrounds. You don't need to have extensive experience in the disciplines and topics we're covering. Instead, if you're intrigued with the ideas and seeking a way to invest in yourself and challenge your imagination, you'll find this a place to explore safely.
All of our faculty are experienced in teaching adults, and are adult learners themselves. We have great respect for the particular joys and challenges that adult learners bring to their learning experiences. We believe that everyone joins in with the benefit of their own wisdom, experience, and expertise, and that we are here to engage, challenge, and support one another. We also recognize, that in this era of specialization, it takes a special courage for an adult to engage in a new learning experience, and most of us wrestle with self doubt, particularly when we're asked to be creative. It's a risky place to go, trying something new without being sure of all of the rules. But with those risks come great rewards: when you leap into the unknown, you can discover amazing things about yourself and the world around you.
We're chosen to build ImagineU online because we feel it's the best way that we can reach most people who are interested in imagination -- here, together, you can build a community without the boundaries of geography, and find creative and intellectual colleagues who are hungering for similar opportunities to enrich their lives.
About ImagineU Leaners
ImagineU learners come from a range of backgrounds, professions, and interests. Some have lots of higher education experience, and some have learned in their worlds and careers. They have come from all over the United States and Canada, and even from Europe. While diverse, they are all curious, looking for an experience that is both creatively and intellectually challenging while it is a warm place to try new thoughts on for size, share ideas, and take imaginal risks.
Some have taken our courses because they want to try something completely new, and some have jumped in because they want a structured opportunity to explore work that they're already engaged with. And most are trying online learning for the first time! (And we don't think any one has thrown their computer through the window, so it seems to be working...).
